GLX fix for i915, benefits for OpenGL applications on many Intel Graphics chipsets
Today I decided to upgrade my debian(leny) box. The process was a classic/easy:
# apt-get dist-upgrade
Then I restarted my computer and Oh! my God!!! there seems to be something diferent, my hearth speed up and then I decided to test compiz-fusion.... Great! this is finally working!!!
Please forgive me, I've forget to explain that I use a relative old HP laptop: Compaq nx9030, that comes with i915 compatible Intel Graphics chipset:
# lspci
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
After my really good surprise, I tried to test Brutal Chess, a nice 3d game that supports OpenGL. Now is working fine, last time I was not able to choose pieces, in other words: I was not able to play anything.
If you are curious or want this fix for any other distribution than Debian, take a look at linux-image-xxxxx changelog where you'll see the proove:
- i915: fix vbl swap allocation size.
That was the anoying bug that killed my patience and turned me furious, at the point to demand the vendor of my Laptop. I'm sorry...
Now.... Please let me play another while with my "lapy".
Blessings!
